Are you looking for a non-invasive treatment to lighten and remove brown spots and age spots on your face, neck, chest, and hands?
IPL Photofacial might be the solution you’re looking for. It’s also great for reducing redness, rosacea, dilated blood vessels, and broken blood vessels on your face, neck, and chest. IPL Photofacial can help improve your skin texture by stimulating collagen and elastin production.
How does IPL Photofacial work?
The IPL device emits a range of lightwaves that are then tuned and targeted at hemoglobin (the red blood cells in the blood vessels) or melanin (the brown pigment in freckles and age spots). The light beam passes through your skin and is converted to heat energy that is absorbed by either hemoglobin or melanin, resulting in damage to the vessel wall or fragmenting of melanin pigment. These tiny vessels and melanin pigment are then absorbed by your body, making them less visible
Does IPL Photofacial hurt, and how long does it take?
Most clients tolerate IPL Photofacial very easily, and there may be only mild discomfort during the treatment. The first treatment is usually the most uncomfortable, but as your skin begins to clear, the treatments usually become even more comfortable. The entire process usually takes 30-60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.
What happens during an IPL Photofacial treatment?
Your laser technician/skin therapist will protect your eyes with special glasses and apply a cool gel to the treatment area. Then, the smooth glass surface of the handpiece will be gently positioned on your skin, and pulses of light will flash. You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band, but this sensation quickly disappears. At the end of the treatment, your therapist will wipe off the gel and apply a sunscreen.
What will I look like after an IPL Photofacial treatment, and how long is the healing time?
For spider veins, your skin may look slightly redder for two to five days after the treatment. For freckles and age spots, the spots generally look darker for 3-7 days, and crusting can occur, which may last up to ten days. The lesions will then begin to clear and will generally be resolved after one month. Please do not pick the spots off!
How long will the results of IPL Photofacial last?
The results of IPL Photofacial can last as long as you take good care of your skin and keep it protected from the sun. If you are in the sun a lot and do not use sunscreen, the underlying issues, whether they are redness or brown spots, will return. However, with maintenance treatments, your skin will continue to look good.
How does an IPL Photofacial treatment increase collagen?
The light bypasses the outer layer of your skin (the epidermis) and gently heats the cells in the deeper layer of your skin (dermis). These cells, called fibroblasts, start to produce more collagen, which improves texture and fine wrinkles.
At Dreamers, we recommend using IPL Photofacial in combination with cosmedical skincare and regular facial treatments.
